The core imaging facility hosts 20 pieces of equipment and can image samples between 2cm and 50nm in size. For more information click the modality required. Click here for the facility map to find where each system is housed.

Methodologies the facility can support:

The facility can support a wide variety of techniques, this is not an exhaustive list.

  • Fixed imaging of fluorescent or colour labelled cells, tissues, organoids.

  • Deconvolution

  • Confocal imaging including 3D volume imaging and spectral imaging

  • Live cell techniques like fast transient imaging and long term live imaging

  • F-Techniques: FRET, FRAP, FLIM

  • Slide scanning

  • Super-resolution: structured illumination microscopy (SIM) and single molecule localisation microscopy including PALM + STORM

  • Total internal reflection fluorescent (TIRF) imaging
